Where Was This Guy In 2004?

I am a registered Republican who voted for George Bush in 2000 and 2004. And then I realized I made a mistake. Had John Kerry spoke with this level of conviction when he was the Democratic Party presidential candidate, maybe I would have voted differently.

Well, regardless, I won't be making that same mistake again in 2008.

A Salt Lake City, UT-based Republican voting for the Democratic Party presidential candidate in 2008?

Yup. That's the power of the Internet that you and I helped create. That's the power of change.

In some of the debates, Kerry nailed Bush.

But fundamentally, Bush policies before the 2004 elections were already a disaster. It is very possible that propaganda had been deep enough that the same words uttered by Kerry and his campaign were understood as different things in the blue and red states. Pointing a bad policy in an informed place probably had more impact than pointing it in a place where the issue was barely known.

Similar to when you discover a new word, and you realize that people have been using it all along, but only now you find yourself noticing it. Before this time it was just like a comma.

@Miguel,

Yeah, I think you pretty much nailed this one. I wish I had woken up about 6 months earlier (it wasn't long after the 2004 election that I began to realize how big of a mistake I had made.) But if nothing else, I'm wide awake now.
